Klimaat Parlement
Klimaat Parlement is a non-profit that has become a crucial platform for early-stage climate projects. During this yearly event, organised by The Ecological Entrepreneur and other volunteering organisations, sustainable entrepreneurs are invited to pitch their project in front of an audience of scientists and entrepreneurs, and win their advice. For the past five years, we’ve contributed proudly to this initiative, which aligns seamlessly with our ambition to foster hope, inspire sustainable action, and highlight possibilities. Our involvement has allowed us to showcase our expertise in sustainable marketing while enhancing the reach of this impactful annual event.
Empowering Climate Entrepreneurs
Klimaat Parlement empowers climate-related start-ups by providing them a space to pitch their climate projects. The event connects these entrepreneurs with a network of business leaders, scientists, and professionals who offer crucial support in areas such as networking, marketing, business development, product development, legal matters, finance,… This resonates deeply with our own goal of integrating sustainability into business practices in a way that is both practical and impactful.
A glimpse of a few of the climate projects that graced the stage at Klimaat Parlement so far:
Einstein telescope
The Einstein Telescope leads in gravitational wave detection, probing black hole origins, neutron star properties, and early universe mysteries. The telescope will be located 300 metres underground, using highly sensitive lasers and vibration-free mirrors to detect gravitational waves, with expected efficiency a thousand times greater than previous instruments. The telescope will enhance environmental and sustainability research with global applications.
Heau
Heau, an innovative start-up, has developed a clever solution to save water in the shower. For many, waiting for the shower to heat up results in significant water wastage as cold water flows unused down the drain. Heau’s groundbreaking solution eliminates this issue by storing the warm water from your previous shower. The next time you step in, you’ll have instant hot water, saving both time and precious resources.
Extraqt
EXTRAQT is an innovative start-up focused on aquathermal technologies for heating and cooling. This technique uses surface water with heat pumps, providing a CO₂-neutral and sustainable alternative to fossil fuels, similar to geothermal and air-water heat pumps.
Globally, about 50% of energy is used for heating buildings. EXTRAQT sees significant potential in Flanders, with its many river-rich cities, to meet a substantial part of the heating demand. Their priority is to do this in an ecologically responsible way, preserving nature.
Spreading climate optimism
Run entirely by volunteers, Klimaat Parlement is a not-for-profit organisation. The energy at each event is palpable, with the day offering inspiration and hope, revealing a wealth of high-potential solutions for combatting climate change. It’s truly remarkable to see how eager the business community is to support these projects. From the start, we were excited to contribute to such a forward-thinking initiative. In the days and weeks following each edition, many of the people that were present share their enthusiasm online, when reflecting back on the day:

Marketing as a force for good
As a service-driven company, we focus on two main pillars: helping organisations transition to sustainability and amplifying the impact of ecological solutions through a diverse marketing strategy. Communication is essential in creating awareness about sustainability. But in order for the message to reach the right people and create the desired results, a well-targeted approach through the right channels is what makes or breaks a communication campaign’s success.
For Klimaat Parlement, the primary goal was to convince as many climate projects as possible to apply for the opportunity to come pitch at the event. Secondly, we needed to attract the right audience of business and climate experts to bring valuable input during the breakout sessions and offer the climate start-ups potentially interesting connections.
Our contributions for Klimaat Parlement included:
- A rebranding exercise that modernised its image to better engage sustainability-focused businesses, using a dynamic, vibrant design that reflects Klimaat Parlement’s commitment to impactful climate action.
- Website content creation: a well-designed website with clear and compelling information facilitating easy event registration is a must-have in any successful communication campaign but absolutely essential when organising an event.
- Social media marketing strategy and content creation: we focussed on LinkedIn as a channel as this is the platform most used by the target audience.
- E-mail marketing to activate the network to register, spread the word, or re-apply, in case of candidate pitchers who didn’t make the selection in the previous edition.
- Design and coordination of printed materials such as brochures and banners to be used during the event itself. Brochures included information about the event programme and pitchers. Together with the banners this ensured a smooth event organisation.
- Engaging third parties to expand the network: by reaching out to universities we wanted to encourage students and budding entrepreneurs to participate and apply for a spot on the stage.
In addition to these marketing efforts, our team also assisted with event logistics, ensuring everything ran smoothly both behind the scenes and on the day itself.
We were also involved in selecting the pitchers. With our strong background in sustainable growth and impactful communication, we are well-placed to serve on the jury for Klimaat Parlement. Having supported numerous climate-focused start-ups and organisations, we know exactly what it takes for these ventures to scale successfully and connect with the right audiences. As experts in marketing and sustainability, we are adept at assessing both the commercial viability and societal impact of climate solutions. We recognise what makes a winning pitch as we have guided many organisations in creating the kind of clear, purpose-driven messaging that resonates with investors and stakeholders alike.
Building a sustainable movement
Our efforts and those of the other volunteers have been instrumental in Klimaat Parlement’s success. Each year, attendees return, often inspired to pitch their own projects at future events. The initiative has grown in both scope and influence, attracting more entrepreneurs who go on to gain media attention, attract investors, or successfully apply for grants – creating tangible, sustainable impact. Since 2023, the event has expanded beyond Antwerp, with a second edition now held in Limburg, reflecting the growing momentum behind this cause.
